Garbage and recycling collection delays: what the City is doing

Many residents have noticed late garbage and recycling pickups. The City's collection contractor has pointed to a shortage of workers and vehicle breakdowns.

What the City is doing

• Monitoring collections every day
• Applying the penalties and measures provided in the contract
• Sending additional City staff into the field to track routes and fix problems faster
• Launching a modernised, mechanised collection this October, using standard bins supplied by the City, to make pickups more reliable

How you can help

• Sort materials correctly and use the right bin
• Keep construction debris and other non-accepted items out of collection bins — they slow down the trucks

Report a missed collection with a service request, or contact the City at 514-684-1010 / ville@ddo.qc.ca. The City asks residents to remain courteous with staff handling the situation.
