Visitors to Teresa-Dellar Alouette Park now have access to a new autonomous ecological restroom installed by the City.
How it works
- No running water, no sewer hook-up, no grid electricity and no chemical products
- A solar panel runs the ventilation fan and automatic LED lighting
- Constant airflow limits odours and helps liquids evaporate, which reduces how often the unit needs servicing
Accessible design
The unit has a sliding door, an ergonomic seat and grab bars so it can be used comfortably by everyone.
The City presents the addition as part of its sustainability efforts, making the park — already known for its mature trees — a more comfortable place to spend time.
